Snapshot Management

What is a Snapshot?

A snapshot is a point-in-time copy of the state of a file system.

Press the "Snapshot" button on your computer to save the state of all files at that specific moment. At any later time, regardless of how the files have changed, you can go back to view or restore them to that exact state.

Functions of Snapshots:

  1. Prevent Data Loss: If you accidentally make unwanted changes—such as deleting files or overwriting data—you can use a snapshot to restore the system to its previous state.
  2. Reduce Backup Time: Since a snapshot only records changes made since the previous snapshot, it eliminates the need to copy all data entirely, saving time.
  3. Save Storage Space: Snapshots typically store only the changed data, avoiding the need for as much space as the original data.
  4. Facilitate Data Recovery: When data recovery is needed, you can quickly restore from the snapshot without having to recover the entire system from scratch.
